CPDP is hosting a two-day working visit with the National Data Protection Agency of the Republic of Kosovo. The event is a continuation of the launched last year initiative to increase the personal data protection cooperation in the Balkans and is in the spirit of signed in 2012, in Pristina, Memorandum and Declaration for multilateral cooperation between Bulgaria, Albania, the Republic of Kosovo and Montenegro.
During the first day of the working visit the CPDP’s President – Mrs. Veneta Shopova, acquainted the foreign delegation with the organization and powers of the Commission. She provided an overview on the key trends in the activities of the Authority – its legislative powers and initiatives, information activities and international cooperation.
Prof. Veselin Tselkov – Commissioner, presented the best practices of the Bulgarian Supervisory Authority, accumulated in the recent years. An emphasis was placed on the Commission`s activities to raise public awareness on data protection issues, controllers’ training and the use of new information technologies in the Commission’s work. Professor Tselkov paid particular attention to the practice of organizing external meetings, combined with holding of open door days, briefings with regional media representatives, and outdoor reception for citizens in regional centers in the country.
The second day of the visit will continue with discussions and exchange of experience on the CPDP’s control activity.
