The Working Party on Police and Justice is a specialized group with mandate from the European Data Protection Authorities Conference. It observes the developments in the police and justice field and exercises control in order to avoid the growing challenges before the personal data processing.
The Working Group has the following main activities:
· issues recommendations to the legislative authorities on matters concerning the data protection in the police and justice sphere;
· clarifies the risks which the legislative initiatives can bring for the civil liberties;
· offers alternatives (incl. taking specific actions), which maximally comply with the rights of the individuals by the processing of their personal data .
The Bulgarian representatives in the Working Party on Police and Justice are Mariya Mateva and Veselin Tselkov- members of the Commission for Personal Data Protection.
