A group from the Institute for Media Rights of the Republicof Azerbaijan visited Bulgaria from June 14th to June 18th 2010. The Access to Information Programme hosted the visit. The purpose of the visit was familiarization with the experience of Bulgarian institutions in implementing the legislation of the right to information access and its limitations.
On the 15th of June Mr. Rachid Hadjily, director of the Institute for Media Rights, and Mrs. Leila Madatly, legal expert of the Institute, visited the Commission for Personal Data Protection. The Chief Secretary of the CPDP, Mr. Tsvetelin Sofroniev, and experts from the Commission were present at the meeting. The guests were acquainted with the history, structure and authorities of the Commission as an independent national authority, supervising the observance of the Law for Personal Data Protection. The Bulgarian and the International legal frameworks and concepts for the personal data protection were considered. Special attention was given to the rights of individuals and the control over the data controllers.
After the main presentation the guests had the opportunity to ask their questions and get answers from the legal experts of the Commission.
