On March 20th 2020, the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) issued a statement on the protection of personal data when processed in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
It emphasizes that the fight against infectious diseases is in the interest of all mankind and is a paramount goal of all countries. COVID-19 pandemic measures should be best supported by making use of all available achievements in the various spheres of modern life.
EDPB draws attention to the fact that, even in these difficult and critical times for the world, the protection of personal data of natural persons should be guaranteed in the best possible way.
