During the second day of the visit in Bulgaria, the representatives of the National Data Protection Agency of the Republic of Kosovo presented the structure, powers and the activities of their institution. The powers of the National Agency to refer to the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo in case of conflict between the right of data protection by data processing and other national rules were reviewed. Some specific differences in the activities of the both data protection supervisory authorities to impose sanctions were mentioned.
The Commission for Personal Data Protection acquainted the colleagues from Kosovo with its powers to handle individuals’ complaints, as well as to perform data controllers’ inspections. The CPDP shared information about its practice on the control activity. The best practices in the organization, conduction and completion of the inspections carried out on complaints and signals were reviewed. Some specific cases addressed to CPDP with regard to its supervisory powers were discussed.
The guests raised a number of practical issues related to the exercising of the control activity.
The both authorities identified common topics for future cooperation on the protection of individuals with regard of personal data processing and the ensuring of lawful processing by the data controllers.
