The 36th International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners ended on 16 October 2014. During the 4-day intense program of work, the delegates to the Conference, which is one of the biggest events in the field of privacy, discussed various aspects of privacy in the digital world. The focus of both, the open and the closed sessions, were the challenges of new technologies and the regulatory systems in the global network, the information inter-connectivity and the necessity of common effective worldwide system for data protection. The reports of the Executive Committee, the Working Group on International Co-operation and Co-ordination, the Working Group on Digital Education and the Conference Strategic Plan Working Group were adopted.
As result of the work done at the Conference, a Declaration on „Internet of things”, and resolutions „Privacy in the digital world”, „Big data”, „Enforcement cooperation”, as well as a resolution about accreditation of new members and observers of the Conference were adopted. A „Global Cross Border Enforcement Cooperation Agreement” was adopted that aims at establishing procedural rules facilitating data protection authorities to enforce their control functions as well as at facilitating data exchange between them.
