On the 18th and 19th of February 2013 the Croatian city of Split hosted the second international meeting of the partners on the project “Raising awareness of the data protection issues among the employees working in the EU”. The Bulgarian Commission for Personal Data Protection was represented by Ms. Desislava Toshkova-Nikolova, director of the “Legal activity, training and international cooperation” and Mr. Anton Todorov, a senior expert at the same directorate. The partners on this project are the data protection authorities of Bulgaria, Poland, the Czech Republic and Croatia.
The agenda of the meeting included discussions on the draft text of the guidelines which need to be prepared and covered multiple issues related to the structure of the publication, the form of the statements and the distribution of tasks among the partners. The foreign partners praised highly the contents of the contribution delivered by the CPDP experts, which covers the processing and protection of employees’ personal data in the employment period.
During the discussions the deadlines for the stages of preparation for the next international meeting were also set. The next meeting will take place in June 2013 in Bulgaria.
The project proposal of the Commission for Personal Data Protection was developed and approved in the framework of the “Leonardo da Vinci” program, “Partnership” activity. The funding of the project is provided by the European Commission, through the “Lifelong learning” programme.
