Every person has the right to request the Commission for Personal Data Protection to check the data in the Schengen Information System relating to him or her and to obtain information on their use. Entities can exercise their rights in any Schengen State, regardless of the country issuing the specific alert. The Member State that received the data subject request must consult the issuing Member State in advance before providing information to the data subject on their data processed in the SIS.
Any person may submit a request to the data controller (the Minister of Interior) or to the CPDP, which in turn will refer the request to the data controller.
Requests shall be submitted to the Commission for Personal Data Protection, either in person or by a person with a notarised power-of-attorney, in one of the following ways:
- In person at the CPDP Registry at: Sofia 1592, Prof. Tsvetan Lazarov Blvd. 2 (see location of the CPDP).
- By letter on the following postal address: 1592 Sofia, Prof. Tsvetan Lazarov Blvd., Personal Data Protection Commission.
- By fax – 029153525.
- By e-mail: kzld@cpdp.bg. The request must be signed with a Qualified Electronic Signature (QES).
- By theSecure Electronic Service System, maintained by the Ministry of e-Government
