At its regular meeting held on July 28, 2010, the Commission for Personal Data Protection expressed an opinion on video-surveillance. Every data controller who processes personal data by creating a video records of monitoring tools is required to notify to CPDP a register " Video-surveillance ". This fact is inscribed in the Register of data controllers and registers kept by them pursuant to Art. 10, para. 1, p. 2 of the Law for Protection of Personal Data.
The data controller must to notify individuals about the video-surveillance through information boards. They have to be prominently displayed and to contain information identifying the data controller, including contact person information.
The opinion of CPDP was adopted on the occasion of queries and signals relating to the obligation of data controllers to notify register "Video-surveillance" when processing personal data by means of video surveillance.
