The 17th Meeting of Central and Eastern Europe Data Protection Authorities took place on 29th and 30th April, 2015 in the city of Durrës, Albania. The forum was attended by Data Protection Authorities from Albania, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Montenegro, Macedonia, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Morocco and others. The Commission for Personal Data Protection was represented by its board-members Tsvetelin Sofroniev and prof. Veselin Tselkov.
The topic of this year’s forum discussion was „Privacy and Technology: Challenges and Opportunities”. The main sessions of the Meeting were „European Data Protection Reform”, „New Technologies & Case Studies”, „New Technologies and Their Impact on Privacy” and „Data Protection Authorities and Their Up to Date Experience”. Subjects of discussions were big data, the challenges of modern technologies and the role of the data protection officer. The representative of the European Data Protection Supervisor, WojciechVieviorovski and delegates from the data protection authorities of Georgia and Italy delivered presentations on this topic. Personal data protection in the workplace was discussed. The Moroccan representatives delivered a presentation, regarding the protection of personal data in Morocco.

The Conference participants adopted “Joint declaration on cooperation between the DPAs of Central and Eastern Europe”. A declaration for adoption of the National Agency for Personal Data Protection of Kosovo as a new member in the group of bodies for the protection of personal data in Central and Eastern Europe was signed.
