Five representatives of the Bulgarian Commission for Personal Data Protection visited the office of the German Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information in the city of Bonn. The visit took place in the period 26 – 30 November and was carried out as a part of a project entitled “Exchange of experience in personal data protection training”, part of the “Leonardo da Vinci” program, “Mobility” activity. The Bulgarian delegation was headed by Mr. Valentin Enev, member of the board of CPDP. The program of the visit included exchange of experience and good practices related to the training and educational activities of the two supervisory authorities.
The German hosts presented their training and awareness raising strategies and methodology. The Bulgarian delegation was also acquainted in detail with the position of data protection officer and the whole system for training and licensing of the individuals assigned to these posts. In this connection a meeting with Mr. martin Esser, the leader of data protection officers’ team of the the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority, was organized. Mr. Esser shared his experience in the data protection training carried out for the public sector and the challenges that he and his colleagues encounter during their everyday work. The training and licensing system for data protection officers in the private sector were presented by the German Association for Data Protection and Security.
The representatives of the Bulgarian Commission for Personal Data Protection also had the chance to present the Commission’s experience and achievements in data protection training and awareness raising campaigns, which were highly assessed by the German hosts.
