The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which comes into force on 25 May 2018, also establishes the European Data Protection Board (EDPB). The Committee is an EU body with separate legal personality. It is comprised by the head of each national data protection authority and the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS), or their respective representatives.
On the first meeting of the European Data Protection Board (EDPB), which took place today, for its vice-chairman was proposed and elected unanimously Mr Ventsislav Karadjov – Chairman of the Bulgarian Commission for Personal Data Protection.
Since 2014 until the entry into force of the General Data Protection Regulation, Mr Ventsislav Karadjov is elected for two terms as vice-chairman of Article 29 Working Party.
The Committee will be the center of the new data protection framework in the EU. He will assist in guaranteeing that the General Data Protection Regulation is applied coherently throughout the whole European Union and will work to ensure the effective cooperation between the data protection authorities.
The choice of Mr Karadjov as vice-chairman is a recognition at European level for the active participation of CPDP in the preparation of the new European data protection legal framework and for the preparation of its application.
