At the end of 2017, in partnership with the Union of Bulgarian Jurist and APIS Europe, CPDP has started a preparation of a project proposal funded by the call for proposals over the Ensuring of the highest level of protection of privacy and personal data of the European Union`s Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme (REC).
At the very beginning of 2018, CPDP as a leading partner and coordinator submitted a project proposal, which aimed at bringing together the efforts of Bulgarian and Italian partners. Among them, besides those already mentioned, are EY Bulgaria, the Italian Data Protection Authority, Roma Tre University and the European Women Lawyers Association – Bulgarian Branch.
The project aims to provide practical tools for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Following the implementation of the project activities, SMEs will have integrated digital solutions for access to a vast data base with regard to both national supervisors, and to national and European courts, which will be accessible through a mobile application, and a self-learning algorithm. The administrative procedures for signing the financial assistance contract were completed at the beginning of December 2018, which enabled the actual implementation of the project to start as early as the end of 2018.
The total budget of the project is BGN 1,089,961.92 (EUR 557,228.68). The project is expected to be completed by the end of November 2020.
