On 5th of October 2017, Capital Fort Business Center Sofia hosted a conference devoted to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The Conference was organized by Economix.bg and labeled „Business topic: The New Data Protection Regime”.
The event started with a lecture by Mr. Ventsislav Karadjov, Chairman of the Bulgarian Commission for Personal Data Protection. Following him, in the first part of the conference, Mr. Tsanko Tsolov, member of the Commission’s board, presented the newly introduced elements of the GDPR.
Banks, internet service providers, hospitals and a number of other companies will have to adopt measures protecting the personal data of their clients, and to apply the appropriate procedures. This is what Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 foresees with regards to natural persons in relation to personal data processing and the free movement of such data.
The GDPR imposes stricter requirements to subjects in the data protection system, which is also the cause of its delayed implementation, scheduled for 25th of May 2018.
