Commission for Personal Data Protection approached itself on the occasion of recent information in Bulgarian media associated with the video surveillance, in witch is reported about:
· Opening a Centre for video surveillance in 118 schools and kindergartens in Sofia;
· Establishing a Centre for video surveillance of the student’s hostels by the Ministry of the Education and Science;
· The video surveillance, realizing from the Ministry of the Interior – in the relation to the observation of the public order and the records of video surveillance of public activities.
Ministry of the Interior , Ministry of the Education and Science and Sofia Municipality have not informed Commission for Personal Data Protection about the processing personal data, gathering by video surveillance, witch is a register of personal data. Another binding condition is to be put a notice announcing about the video surveillance and it’s recording.
Executing it’s authorities according to the Law for Protection of Personal Data the Commission begins a control of work down in this sphere.
