Veneta Shopova – the chairwoman of the Commission for Personal Data Protection and Valentin Enev – a member, took part in the Annual conference on cross-border exchange of data, data protection and privacy, held in Washington from 16th to 18th November 2009. The forum, organized by the Department of Commerce, met the leaders and representatives of the authorities in the protection of personal data from the European Union with their U.S. colleagues and with experts from the Article 29 Data Protection Working Party.
The current basic international issues in the field of protection of privacy were discussed. Special attention was paid to the importance for the world economy of the information exchanging, the problems associated with the behavioral advertising and the protection of personal data and the protection of privacy in the online social networks.
