‘Accountability – Building an Effective Privacy Management Program’ training was held on 17 November 2015 in Boyana Residence, Sofia. The training event was part of the International Conference ‘Trust, Privacy and Security of Personal Data in the Digital World’. The conference was held in next two days – 18 and 19 November 2015. The civil servants of the specialized administration of CPDP, to whom the training was initially intended, were the main group of participants.

The main trainer was Mr. Terry McQuay, President and Founder of Nymity Inc. – one of the leading global research companies specializing in accountability, risk, and compliance solutions for the privacy.
During the two main panels, Mr. McQuay presented the mechanisms for reporting activities on data protection, responsibility for processing and publication of the results in a clear and accessible way. A complete and comprehensive model for building such a system for reporting, accountability and transparency in the field of personal data protection was proposed.
In the morning panel Mr. McQuay reviewed the basic concepts and basic rules of programs for privacy management. The attendees became familiar with the process of identification of existing resources and activities to manage privacy in an organization. An approach for selecting most appropriate strategy to meet the needs of the organization and distinguish between main and auxiliary activities for privacy management was presented.
Particular focus of the afternoon panel was the development of a plan based on resources. The process of planning and implementing of a strategy for management of privacy by selection of appropriate activities was discussed. In his conclusion, Mr. McQuay accentuated on the prioritization of privacy management activities.
