On 14th and 15th of December 2017 a work meeting between experts from CPDP and representatives of the three mobile service providers in Bulgaria – Vivacom, Mobiltel and Telenor, took place. The initiative was undertaken by the mobile service providers. The goal – a discussion on their activities linked to the preparation for the implementation of the new European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) on 25th of May 2018.
The two-day work meeting was conducted as a dialogue in which experts from CPDP elaborated on the implementation of the Regulation, whereas the representatives of the mobile service providers asked questions and addressed the panel with problems related to their sector. Main topics of the meeting were „Consent of the data subjects”, „Rights of the data subjects – scope and exercise”, „The general data protection regulation and sector norms in electronic communications”, „The upcoming national ordinance and policies of CPDP”, „Data processors – instructions, monitoring and responsibility” and „Certification, codes of conduct and training”.
When closing the work meeting, gratitude was expressed on both sides as a result from the two-way exchange of information and the readiness of the parties to proceed with the dialogue. The goal is to meet the data protection requirements of citizens, who are clients of the electronic communication services.
