On 4 May 2018, as part of the Calendar of main events of the Bulgarian presidency of the Council of the European Union, an informal meeting of Working Party on „Information Exchange and Data Protection” (DAPIX) took place. The floor was opened by Mr. Ventsislav Karadjov, Chairman of the Commission for Personal Data Protection, who is also the Chairman of the Working Party. 24 delegates from the member states, the European Commission and the Secretariat of the Council of the EU, discussed questions linked to the national experience and preparation for the practical implementation of the new European legal framework in the sphere of data protection. Also, ideas concerning the future coordinative role of the Working Party in the sphere were exchanged.
The delegates discussed the progress in implementing the necessary changes to the national legislation of the member states, the different approaches towards data protection in the sphere of national security and defense, the peculiarities of consent given by children, as well as the exercise of oversight on the data processing from the bodies of the judiciary.
