On November 7 and 8, 2018, an International Conference on Personal Data Protection took place in Moscow. The event was organized at the highest level by the Federal Office for Surveillance in the Sphere of Communications, Information Technologies and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation. Representatives of the supervisory authorities of the Republic of Bulgaria, Italy, Hungary, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republic of Serbia, the People`s Republic of China, Jordan, the South African Republic, Morocco and many others took part in the forum. etc.
On the first day of the conference a closed meeting was held with foreign representatives to discuss issues related to the changes in the protection of personal data subjects` rights in relation to the implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation and the Modernized Council of Europe Convention No. 108. Changes in national legislation have been presented in accordance with the requirements of the Regulation and the Convention. The representative of CPDP, Prof. Veselin Tselkov, noted the changes, as well as the priorities related to the Regulation, on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria.
The second day of the Conference took place at MIA "Russia Today". Issues that were considered and discussed were related to the global risks of digital data protection systems in the digital economy. A parallel was made between Russian and international approaches to the protection of individuals` rights in the context of digitization – correlations and differences in law enforcement. The main directions of change of the legal regulation of protection of individuals, societies and countries in the conditions of the development of the digital economy were discussed. The tasks and main directions of the development of the information safety in the framework of realization of the program "The Digital Economy of the Russian Federation" were discussed. Attention was also paid to the current problems in ensuring the protection of individuals` rights in the digital economy.
The representative of the Bulgarian Supervisory Authority, Prof. Veselin Tselkov, member of CPDP, delivered a presentation on "Methodology for Assessment of Compliance with the Requirements of the General Regulation".
