On 2 and 3 September 2013 the city of Berlin hosted the 54-th Meeting of the International Working Group on Data Protection in Telecommunications. The Bulgarian Commission for Personal Data Protection was represented by two if its members – Krassimir Dimitrov and Valentin Enev.
During the meeting the representatives of every respective state had the chance to deliver a country report concerning the recent developments on data protection in telecommunications. The burning issues connected with communications surveillance, the programs PRISMA and TEMPORA in particular, came under discussion as well as privacy issues in social networks, voice over internet services and privacy and the BYOD policy (which allows for the employees to perform their working obligations on their own devices). The draft working papers on aerial surveillance (carried out by drones and pilotless aircraft) and big data were also discussed by the group.
At the end of the meeting representatives of Google Inc. presented its Google Glass product and demonstrated its capabilities.
