The Commission for Personal Data Protection started the implementation of the training plan for the current year with two trainings April 2013.
On 25th April several employees of the “State agency for child protection” underwent training in personal data protection. During the training the employees of the agency were assisted in drafting the new internal rules of the data controller, which are in line with the Ordinance 1, dated 30 January 2013.
On 26th April a training organized in cooperation with ELAS Bulgaria – The European Law Students’ Association, took place. 60 law students from different Bulgarian universities participated in the event. The trainees demonstrated deep interest in the issues of data protection and privacy. The students asked theoretical questions concerning the legal framework but also presented the lecturers with concrete cases and inquiries related to the rights of loan recipients, the access to personal data collected through video surveillance, employees’ authorization for data processing, the practice of banks and telecommunication companies in collecting and processing personal data.
Both “State agency for child protection” and ELSA Bulgaria expressed their gratitude for the beneficial trainings and the commitment on behalf of the lecturers and declared willingness for continuation of the cooperation with the Commission for Personal Data Protection. The Commission was awarded a certificate for service by the European Law Students’ Association – ELSA Bulgaria.
